HIMSS runs the largest health IT conference in the US and possibly the world. If you’re looking for a trade show to demo your product or want to network with leading health IT companies, the HIMSS annual conference is the one you’re looking for.


AngelList is a platform for startups that helps startups find investors, post jobs, and tout their startups to the world.

Their health care startups section is worth checking out if you’re looking for investors who have previously worked in the health care space. There are some really interesting ones in the health IT space.

Seth Godin’s Startup School

While this is a general recommendation – it applies to not just health IT entrepreneurs – it is a very worthy one. In this podcast, marketing guru Seth Godin guides thirty entrepreneurs through a workshop exploring how they can build and run their dream business. If you’re a founder or are just interested in startups and haven’t listened to this yet, get on it. You’ll be glad you did.

While you’re starting up and building your first product, it’s likely that you will be swimming through huge amounts of information and trying to understand all the regulations within the health care industry. Do yourself a favor and go straight to the source – the government itself. On the website, you can find information on every health IT regulation, from HITECH and it’s meaningful use piece, to HIPAA and it’s privacy, security, and breach notification rules.
